A Flower Halo Workshop

In this hands-on design class we’ll review ways to construct flower halos, crowns, wreaths, combs – if you can wear it in your hair or on your head we will talk about it!! We’ll create a few beauties with a variety of fresh, spring flowers. All instruction, fresh flowers and hard goods are included, please bring your own clippers.

Holland : Why it should be on your bucket list!
When people think of Holland, they think of flowers! And, rightly so… after all Holland is one of the worlds’ largest flower producers. In my opinion, Holland Flowers are superior to flowers grown in other parts of the world. I think it is the Dutch people, and their love for their craft that makes Holland a truly special place that you should visit, and visit often!
Holland should be on everyone’s bucket list because there is literally something for everyone! My first trip to Holland was in 2004, and the trip proved much too short a visit because of all there is to see and do! I vowed to return, and every time I do, there is something new that I didn’t see on my previous visit! Holland offers over 2500 Museums to delight every passion, it is also home to the world’s oldest amusement park, Royal Delft Pottery, Diamond Trading, Gouda Cheese, Dutch Masters Vermeer & Rembrandt, and of course Tulips! Art & Culture abound in this remarkable country. I am a floral designer first, but I also love history and culture. And, there is no better place to combine so many interests than Holland! I longed to create a trip for designers & enthusiasts alike. One that would include cultural aspects that make Holland what it is today. Let me show you what you’ve been missing!

The brilliant floral and travel photographer Georgianna Lane has released a new book and it’s a real beauty! The title is Paris in Bloom and can be ordered from Amazon, or for more information be sure to check out Geogianna’s website.
The book offers 160 pages of stunning photography by Georgianna as she shares two of her loves – Paris & Flowers. In Georgianna’s words “this book is my love letter to the French capital, an unapologetically romantic celebration of her abundant floral charm.” Definitely grab a copy if you are planning a trip to Paris as she outlines her favorite Parks & Gardens, Floral Boutiques, Market Flowers, and Floral Displays to visit! There is also a beautiful step-by-step feature demonstrating how to create a lovely French styled floral arrangement designed Laetitia Mayor of Floresie.
This book is a visual treat – if you love Paris or if you love spring flowers or if you love beautiful photography then you’ll LOVE this book!
One of my favorite features of the book is this: Field Guide to Common Spring-Blooming Trees and Shrubs in Paris. I never know the name of flowering trees & shrubs so this is just perfect!!
Georgianna included a list of suggested Floral Boutiques to visit, needless to say I will be taking the list with me on my next trip to Paris!

Hail the Hellebore!
Join us for an afternoon class on April 2nd where we will be inspired by the Queen of Winter, the Hellebore. This little beauty comes in an array of colors – pinks, plums, whites, and greens. We’ll discuss the care & handling of the hellebore while designing a lush, garden style flower arrangement. Our vessel of choice will be a compote using chicken wire as the support structure.
Following Alicia’s demonstration each student will create their own floral arrangement masterpiece to take home.
